~The Character Crooks~
Crooks was the character we chose because he stood out to us. We noticed something good about him. Crooks was the only black, loved to read, also stayed to hisself. Even when other's didnt want him around he stayed strong, and kept his head up high. We also didnt like the way he was being treated so that encouraged us to choose hin as well. Crooks also is a brave man, because he's living in a house being disrespected everyday and being the only black and still living there thats courage.

Unhappy-"Cause i'm black. They play cards in there, but i can't play because i'm black. Well, I tell you, you all of you stink to me."

Crooks Diary
Im so lonely in this place, im the only black and get treated unfair. I have no friends, no one wants me around, or wants to talk to me. So I sit in my room all alone and read all day to forget about the ways that im being treated here. Im a nice person when you get to know me but no one even wants me around so how can they know the real me.
